Choosing size and shape
The single biggest factor in a natural result is sizing to your body, not to a number. A good surgeon matches implant volume, profile and placement to your chest width and tissue, and will gently steer you away from a size that would look obviously operated or strain the tissue over time. If your breasts also sag, augmentation alone will not lift them — that needs a breast lift, sometimes combined with implants in one operation. The surgeon will tell you honestly which you need.
Who is a good candidate
Augmentation suits you if you want more volume or better proportion, are in good general health, and have realistic expectations. Breast development should be complete. Mention any family history of breast disease at consultation so screening can be discussed.
The procedure, step by step
- Consultation and planning. Your chest width, tissue and goals are assessed, and implant size, profile and placement are agreed with the surgeon. Fat transfer is discussed if it suits you better.
- Anaesthesia. Performed under general anaesthesia in an accredited hospital with full anaesthetic cover.
- Placement. Implants go in through a discreet incision, commonly in the breast crease, above or below the chest muscle. With fat transfer, fat is harvested by liposuction, purified and injected in small amounts.
- Dressing. You wake in a supportive surgical bra, which holds the implants in position while the tissue heals.
Recovery timeline
Recovery is quicker than most body procedures, but the final shape takes a few months to settle. The first week is spent in Istanbul, and the rest of the recovery happens at home with remote follow-up. Timelines vary from person to person, and no surgery comes with a guaranteed outcome.
Days 1–3. The chest feels tight and sore, with the most swelling. You rest with your upper body raised, keep your arms low and take the pain relief your surgeon prescribes. You stay in Istanbul, close to the hospital.
Days 4–7. Soreness eases and you walk around more each day. The surgeon checks the incisions and the position of the implants, and this is usually when you are cleared to fly home.
Weeks 2–3. Most women are back at desk work. The breasts still sit high and feel firm. That is normal, and you keep wearing the surgical bra day and night. You should not drive for at least the first week.
Weeks 4–6. Swelling keeps dropping and movement feels normal again. Heavy lifting and strenuous exercise wait until at least a month has passed, and most everyday activities return by around 6 weeks.
Months 2–3. The implants drop and soften into a natural position, and the shape you see at this stage is close to your final result. Some surgeons recommend a supportive sports bra for up to 3 months; yours tells you when you can stop.
Risks and side effects
Augmentation carries the usual surgical risks plus implant-specific ones such as capsular contracture, rupture or the need for future surgery, all kept low by premium implants and a board-certified surgeon in an accredited hospital.
