1. Donor Area Strategy

Two common approaches:

• Fully unshaven: individual long hairs are lifted, grafts extracted one by one between them. Slowest and most graft-limited, but zero visibility.
• Strip shaving: a narrow horizontal strip (1-2 cm wide) is shaved at the occipital zone, covered by the surrounding long hair. Still invisible from the outside.

2. Extraction

Micro-punches (0.7-0.9 mm) are used for follicle-by-follicle extraction. The surgeon works carefully between existing hairs to avoid damaging them.

3. Recipient Area

• If the recipient area is long-haired (diffuse thinning, women, touch-up cases): grafts are implanted directly between existing hairs, usually using the DHI Choi pen for precision.
• If the recipient area is bald: no shaving needed because there is nothing to shave. DHI or Sapphire FUE depending on size.

4. Implantation
