Eyebrows frame the face, and over-plucking, scarring, alopecia or simple genetics can leave them sparse, uneven or gone. An eyebrow transplant moves your own hair into the brow, one follicle at a time, at the angle each zone actually grows — permanent, natural and shaveable, and the end of decades of pencil, microblading appointments and tattoo touch-ups.

This guide gives you the price first, then the graft count, the days in Istanbul and the recovery month by month.

How much does an eyebrow transplant cost in Turkey?

An eyebrow transplant in Turkey starts from €2,500, all-inclusive, through Alpha Clinic Turkey. That is one fixed figure for both brows, agreed in writing before you travel — not a per-graft rate that resolves upward on the day.

Inside the €2,500:

  • The operation at a Ministry of Health A-class licensed partner hospital, with the surgeon who planned your case
  • Pre-operative bloods and the design consultation
  • Your hotel nights and VIP transfers between airport, hotel and hospital
  • An interpreter and one coordinator who stays with you from first message to the 12-month result
  • Medication and the aftercare kit you go home with
  • Twelve months of follow-up on WhatsApp, with the same coordinator

Flights are not included. Neither is a visa where your passport needs one, nor extra nights if you decide to stay on. Everything else your plan names is inside the figure.

Send two photos of your brows through the free assessment and a surgeon returns your graft count, the proposed design and one fixed all-inclusive price — in writing, before you book anything.

Eyebrow transplant cost by country

Where Typical cost What that buys
Turkey — Alpha Clinic Turkey from €2,500 Surgery, hospital, hotel, transfers, interpreter, medication, 12-month follow-up
United Kingdom €4,500–7,000 Surgery only
Germany €3,500–6,000 Surgery only
United States €7,000–11,000 Surgery only

At home the quote is usually for the theatre and the surgeon alone; the consultation, the medication and the follow-up visits arrive as separate lines afterwards. The Turkish figure is typically between a half and a quarter of that, with the trip already inside it. Our 2026 hair transplant cost guide sets out the same arithmetic for scalp work, and the all-inclusive package page lists every line the price contains.

How many grafts do you need per brow?

Brow work is small-volume and high-precision. The number is set by how much outline survives, not by how full you want to look.

Your brows now Grafts per brow Both brows What it achieves
Sparse tail, thin outline intact 75–125 150–250 Restores the tail and sharpens the edge
Over-plucked or naturally thin 150–225 300–450 Rebuilds body through the arch
Alopecia, burn, surgical scar or permanent chemotherapy loss 225–350 450–700 A brow designed and built from very little

Most cases land between 100 and 350 grafts per side. Density is deliberately conservative: an overpacked brow reads as transplanted from across a room, and a natural brow is never a uniform block of hair.

Which country is best for an eyebrow transplant?

Turkey, for a reason that has nothing to do with price: volume. Istanbul teams perform hair and brow restoration every working day of the year, and brow work rewards case experience more than almost any other cosmetic procedure — the difference between a good and a poor result is measured in degrees of angle across a few hundred hairs.

What we add to that volume is a standard you can check before you fly. The surgery is arranged at a Ministry of Health A-class licensed partner hospital; the hospital and the surgeon are both named in the written plan you approve; the surgeon who plans your case is the one who performs it; and the price on that plan is the price on the day. Alpha Clinic Turkey is licensed by the Ministry of Health for international health tourism and registered with TÜRSAB (15434) — see what we are licensed to do.

The UK, Germany and the US all perform excellent brow work. You are paying two to four times more for it, in theatres that see a fraction of the cases.

Is an eyebrow transplant risky?

It is one of the smallest procedures in hair restoration: a few hundred grafts, local anaesthetic, a day case, home the same evening. Serious medical complications are rare, and the ones worth knowing about are short-lived — redness for a few days, tiny scabs around each implanted hair for a week to ten days, occasional mild swelling, and rarely a small pimple-like folliculitis as a hair breaks through.

The real risk in brow surgery is cosmetic, not medical:

  • Wrong angle. Brow hair lies almost flat against the skin. Implanted at a scalp angle it stands up, and the brow looks brushed the wrong way.
  • Wrong design. A shape that suits a photograph rarely suits a face. The design is drawn with you and approved before anaesthetic.
  • Overpacking. Too much density in a small area strains the blood supply and looks artificial.
  • Operating too early on active disease. Alopecia areata must be stable, typically 1–2 years without a flare, confirmed by your dermatologist.

Those are all planning failures rather than surgical accidents, which is why the consultation matters more here than the theatre. You are screened before travel, and followed for twelve months afterwards by the coordinator who booked you in.

Your three to four days in Istanbul

Day What happens
Arrival VIP pickup at the airport, hotel check-in, and your coordinator meets you
Day 1 Brow design agreed with the surgeon, bloods, then the procedure — 3 to 5 hours, back at the hotel the same evening
Day 2 First gentle wash at the hospital with step-by-step training for home
Day 3 Final check, discharge instructions, transfer back to the airport

Most patients book three nights. Nothing about a brow case requires a longer stay, and you can fly home with the brows lightly crusted and easily covered by glasses.

What is an eyebrow transplant?

Individual hair follicles are taken from the back of the scalp and implanted into the brow — the follicular-unit extraction surgery documented by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), the field’s main professional body. The transplanted hairs grow permanently in their new position and can be trimmed, styled and, once healed, waxed.

Brow transplants at the partner hospitals are performed with the DHI (Choi pen) technique. For brows the Choi pen is not a preference but a requirement: it sets the angle, direction and depth of each hair in one motion, and no other instrument gives that control over implants this small and this visible.

Why angle and direction matter so much

Eyebrow hair is not uniform. Across a single brow:

  • Inner third (near the nose): hair grows upward
  • Middle third (arch): hair grows diagonally outward and downward
  • Outer third (tail): hair grows horizontally outward

A generic angle produces an obviously transplanted eyebrow — hairs pointing the wrong way, tufts standing up, an unnatural brush effect. The Choi pen, with a design planned zone by zone, lets the surgeon implant each hair at the exact angle and direction of natural brow flow.

Who gets eyebrow transplants?

  • Women — over-plucked brows from the 1990s and 2000s, genetically sparse brows, age-related thinning
  • Men — naturally thin or asymmetrical brows
  • Scar coverage — accidents, burns, surgical scars in the brow area
  • Alopecia patients — alopecia areata affecting the brows, once stable
  • Trichotillomania recovery — after the condition is under control
  • After chemotherapy — where brow loss has proved permanent

How an eyebrow transplant is performed

  1. Design consultation — the surgeon draws the target shape with you, working from your face shape and your own preference.
  2. Donor selection — usually the back of the scalp; the finest, single-hair grafts are chosen because they most resemble brow hair.
  3. Local anaesthesia — applied with a needle-free Comfort-In injector.
  4. Graft extraction (30–60 min) — micro-punch extraction of the grafts your plan calls for.
  5. DHI implantation (2–3 hours) — the Choi pen places each hair at its exact angle and direction.
  6. Post-op instructions — washing, sleeping position, what to avoid, and your coordinator’s number.

Total session: 3–5 hours.

Eyebrow transplant recovery

  • Day 1–3: minor redness and tiny scabs around each implanted hair; mild swelling possible.
  • Day 4–7: first gentle wash; scabs begin to lift.
  • Day 7–10: most scabs gone; brows look complete.
  • Day 10–14: shock loss begins — the transplanted hairs shed. This is normal.
  • Week 3–8: brows look thin again as the follicles rest.
  • Month 2–3: new growth starts.
  • Month 6: most of the density is visible.
  • Month 12: final result.

You will need to trim your transplanted brows regularly — they are scalp hair and will grow longer than native brow hair. Trimming takes seconds and is painless.

Understanding the hair growth cycle after an eyebrow transplant

After your transplant the relocated brow follicles cycle through three biological phases. Knowing the timeline helps you read your results correctly and avoid panic during normal shedding.

Anagen (active growth) — Month 4 through 12+: The transplanted follicle resumes producing the hair shaft. Around 50% of grafts produce visible hairs by month 6; full brow density and texture mature between months 12 and 18.

Catagen (transition) — Brief, 2–3 weeks: Hair growth slows and the follicle prepares to rest. This is a normal rhythm of every healthy hair, transplanted or native.

Telogen (rest / shock loss) — Week 2 through 6 post-op: 60–90% of the transplanted hairs shed. This is NOT graft failure — the follicle stays intact under the skin and re-enters anagen by month 3–4. Patients who have not been counselled about shock loss often panic at this stage; it is expected and reversible.

Do eyebrow transplants look natural?

Yes — when performed by an experienced team using DHI, the kind of experience the ISHRS patient guidance tells you to verify when you choose where to have surgery. The factors that decide it:

  • Correct angle and direction for each zone
  • Fine, single-hair donor selection
  • Conservative density, never overpacked
  • A design that respects your face shape

We do not arrange dramatic brow designs that look artificial.

Are eyebrow transplants permanent?

Yes. Once the transplanted follicles settle in at around the 12-month mark they are permanent. They behave like the scalp donor hair they came from — resistant to shedding and stable for a lifetime. You can trim them, wax with care, and pluck strays as you would native hair.

Eyebrow transplant vs microblading

Criteria Eyebrow Transplant Microblading
Permanence Permanent (lifetime) 1-3 years, requires touch-ups
Appearance Real 3D hair 2D pigment in skin
Upkeep Occasional trimming Regular colour retouching
Upfront cost Higher Lower per session
Long-term cost One-time Recurring
Best for Permanent restoration Quick cosmetic enhancement
Healing 7-14 days 7-14 days
Natural look Excellent (real hair) Good (but fades)

Verdict: for a permanent solution, the transplant wins. For a short-term cosmetic boost, microblading is faster and cheaper up front. Over 5–10 years the total cost of repeated microblading often exceeds a single eyebrow transplant.

Eyebrow transplant vs cosmetic tattoo

Some patients consider a cosmetic tattoo (permanent makeup) instead. The drawbacks:

  • Tattoo pigments fade over time and often turn unnatural colours (grey, blue, reddish)
  • Tattoos are flat — no 3D effect
  • They cannot be shaped or styled
  • Removal is difficult and expensive (laser)

An eyebrow transplant produces real 3D hair that looks natural from any angle, in any light.

Eyebrow transplant for over-plucked brows

The most common indication we see. After years of over-plucking — particularly for the thin-brow trend of the 1990s and 2000s — repeatedly traumatised follicles stop producing hair, and the thinning is permanent. A transplant restores the original shape, or a fuller and more modern one if you prefer.

Eyebrow transplant for alopecia areata

Brow involvement is common in alopecia areata. Transplants are only performed once the condition is stable — typically 1–2 years without an active flare, confirmed by your dermatologist before surgery is planned.

Can eyebrow transplants be combined with microblading?

Yes. Some patients keep microblading through the growth phase (months 2–6, while density is still arriving) and then rely purely on the transplant once it has filled in. Coordinate the timing with your surgeon and your microblading artist.

Are eyebrow transplants painful?

No. Local anaesthesia with a needle-free injector makes the numbing phase nearly painless, and you feel nothing during the procedure itself. Mild discomfort in the first 24–48 hours is managed with standard painkillers.

Eyebrow transplants and Islamic law

Some patients — particularly from Muslim-majority countries — ask whether eyebrow transplants are haram or permissible. This is a religious question best put to a scholar, but the general points we share:

  • Non-permanent cosmetic enhancements (microblading, pencil) are typically considered haram or discouraged by some scholars.
  • Medical restoration of a congenital defect, scar, alopecia or burn is typically considered permissible by most scholars, because it restores original creation.
  • Cosmetic-only brow transplants for fashion reasons are a topic of scholarly debate.

Each patient should consult their own religious authority. The procedure is carried out at the partner hospital; the ruling is personal.

Through Alpha Clinic Turkey an eyebrow transplant starts from €2,500 all-inclusive: the surgery at a Ministry of Health A-class licensed partner hospital, your hotel nights, VIP transfers, an interpreter, your medication and aftercare kit, and 12 months of follow-up. Flights are not included. Your exact figure is fixed in writing before you travel.
Turkey is where the volume is: Istanbul teams perform hair and brow restoration every working day, which is how they build the case experience this operation rewards. Through Alpha Clinic Turkey the surgery is arranged at a Ministry of Health A-class licensed partner hospital, and the hospital and the surgeon are both named in the written plan you approve before you fly.
It is a minor day-case procedure under local anaesthetic, and serious complications are rare. The realistic risks are cosmetic rather than medical: a design you do not like, hairs implanted at the wrong angle, or density that looks overpacked. Medically, expect short-lived redness, small scabs and mild swelling. You are screened beforehand and followed for 12 months afterwards.
Most brows take 100 to 350 grafts per side. A light fill along a thin tail needs 75 to 125, an over-plucked brow usually 150 to 225, and a full rebuild after alopecia, a burn or a surgical scar 225 to 350. The surgeon sets your number from photos before you travel.
An eyebrow transplant is permanent real 3D hair that needs only occasional trimming; microblading is 2D pigment that lasts 1 to 3 years and needs recurring colour retouches. Over 5 to 10 years, repeated microblading often costs more than a single eyebrow transplant.
